Environmental Policy

North West Drylining

Plasterboard comprises 95% gypsum and 5% paper; the major constituents of gypsum are calcium (23%) and sulphate (21%). The sulphate content of gypsum mixed with biodegradable municipal waste in a landfill breaks down to form, amongst other substances, hydrogen sulphide; which has a long term negative impact upon the leachate generated within the landfill and can cause odour problems for communities close to landfills.

In response to the negative impacts of landfilling high sulphate waste we at North West Drylinging have teamed up with Gypsum Recycling UK to dispose of our plasterboard onsite. Through the unique recycling system the plasterboard waste can now be 100% recycled into gypsum powder usable in the production of new plasterboard.

The policy of North West Drylining Limited is to conduct its activities in such a way that it attains:

  • Effective protection of the environment
  • Efficient use of natural resources
  • Effective waste management
